  • Some Expressions from the 1960's

    1. "ape" was a term used to describe going ballistic ( To become very angry or irrational

    Example: He went ape when someone scratched his guitar.

    2. "Bag" had a dual meaning and often referred to stealing.

    Example: Individuals in the 60's could have their wallet bagged, or they could bag someone else's car.

    "Bag" was also used when inquiring why someone was upset or why someone is problematic. 

    Example:  You look bad, what's your bag?

    3. "Crash" meant going to sleep 

    Example: I feel so tired, I'll crash now.

    4. "Cruising," was commonly used by those looking for girls

    Example: Those young fellows went cruising in the mall last week.

    5. "all show and no go" was used when referring to a nice, but non-functioning automobile.

    Example: Ahhh!  I hate this car!  It's all show and no go!
